A love letter to Adam Young

Dear Adam,

I have this reoccurring fantasy about you. Well, maybe you would call it a scenario because it does depend on many factors. I know it's far fetched, but love is weird and unpredictable, so maybe you have to dream too big to end up happy. When I tell you my plan, I am not going to say, "if this happens," I am going to say, "when this happens," because I so badly want it to come true. If I have learned one thing from you, I have learned to always be optimistic because, well, dreams don't turn to dust.
My plan sets off when I am blessed with a large sum of money. I am not trying to buy your love, but I do need to purchase some necessary supplies. See, I need to go buy a hot air balloon. I understand I could probably rent one for an afternoon, but hey, I thought I would splurge. The balloon design is simple; plain maroon. Now that I have the balloon, I need to know how to fly it. Everything is less romantic with a random third party, even if that third party is flying the balloon. As two extremely introverted people, I think it would be better to be alone, which means I need to learn how to fly this bad-boy.
I don't know how long or how much hot air balloon flying lessons are. I am guessing it takes a while. Maybe I should have bought the balloon after I learned how to fly it. Nonetheless, how many months later, I am in the air. Alone. I pack light. The gondola is feeling too empty right now. I keep well, and I keep optimistic that my plan is going to be a success.
As a Canadian Girl, the trip from the tip of Ontario to Minnesota is quite the journey. Travelling over the great lakes is a miraculous view. The birds welcome me along with their best of luck songs. The balloon is smooth sailing. It's as if I was stationary and the sky was sailing around me.
Before I know it, I am nearing my destination. I am nervous, of course. I start to have doubts. This is crazy. This is never going to work. What was I thinking. But I think back to your blog posts. Your far fetched fantasies of meeting the girl of your dreams. I have to keep positive. I have to believe that I might get to unlock the secret that is Adam Young with my own key. I start to descend.
I know all of Owatonna can see the balloon landing. I pray you are looking too. The field begins to fill with people wondering who this mad woman is flying this balloon. I search the crowd for your face, but with no luck. You're not here. After telling everyone I did mean to land here and that my balloon did not need to be repaired, the crowd thins. It starts to get dark, yet there was still no sign of you. I settled in for the night, but I miss the air. Insomnia claws at me everywhere I turn. I can't just give up now. I have to find you.
Then I hear the best thing imaginable. A simple, "Hello," coming from the dark. I stand up to peer over the gondola with my flash light. You squint at the sudden brightness in a way that makes my heart melt. "You finally made it," I say with a smile. I like how you smile back, as if knowing I came for you.
You say you don't need any bags and that we can take off right now. Hand in hand we are Airborn. And this is how it will stay.

                                                                                           -Stephanie

Oh shit guys...

Tonight is one of those sleepless nights, I can already feel it and it's not even midnight. Though, by the time I finish this blog it probably will be. I am going to talk about a couple things, this is sort of a filler blog about what is going on in my pathetic life.

I am writing this on my iPod and blasting Owl City in my head. I say head and not ears because my usual headphones broke, the ones that come with said iPod, so I had to frantically search for a spare pair. I bought these beauties at Shoppers, on sale, for like four dollars quite a while ago. They are the kind that you shove into your ear. Are they called earbuds? I don't know. But that's why it's in my head. It's going to take some getting used to.

I got some weird/good news I guess today. You know that play I am doing at my school to become more one with Tina Fey? Well, on Monday there was a writing session. I was literally the only one there. It was just me and the two group leaders. It was actually really enjoyable. I got to showcase my writing talents while also becoming the leaders favourite. Well, maybe that's not true, but we did have fun and come up with a lot of material. Today we did casting. Guess who got the biggest part? Nope, not the likable extrovert who is involved in a bunch of other drama productions. Me. I did. The awkward introvert with no background in acting. So, Tina Fey, you have some competition...

I am actually super scared though. I've never had to memorize lines and stuff before. I've been good at improv, but actual acting? Ahhh. We have tomorrow as our first and only reversal and then the performance on Monday... I am freaking out a little bit. I literally have no experience.

I guess I will just have to see how everything goes. This is no where near the final production, so once they see I shouldn't write the part and also star in it, they will give me a simpler part.

I am no where near Tina Fey level yet.

Happy Birthday Adam Young

Adam Young. Where to begin.

He is everything. He inspires me to be a better person just on the fact that he, himself is a good person. Adam doesn't do this in the way of corruption. He does it simply by optimism through his music.

I try to be optimistic, but from this blog, you probably know that it fails. I have my ups and downs, but I always come back to Owl City. People say his music is 'soft', I say it is truly gratifying. Everyday we listen to songs about loss and fear and death. We all feel those things, but should we focus on them? Should we allow ourselves to become consumed? No. We need to focus on the positive.

That's what Owl City's songs are about. If everyone goes through bad things, why should we listen to music about it?

On another note, Adam is from a small town. He is an introvert. He recently played a live show for over 60,000 people. How crazy is that? He went from loading trucks to touring the world in like three years.

He is a dreamer that has actually seen his dreams come true. There is nothing more inspiring then that.

Maybe dreams don't tun to dust. (And I will marry Adam Young one day.)

Owls

I like owls.

I like to think of myself as an owl collector, but in truth I don't have a lot of owl things except these shown below:

 The last one counts... hehehe.

Funny story with the Kleenex box... I destroyed a whole display to get the ones with the owls. I grab it, the rest fall... on top of me. People laughed, I did too.

So, there you have it. I think this probably all started because of Owl City, and I'm okay with that. I think we should all have something that makes us smile. If I get a new owl anything, I am happy. If I listen to an Owl City song, I am happy. It all connects.

All Things Bright and Beautiful

Hello blog! How I've missed you! I know I haven't been away for that long, but I hope you missed me too!
What? No! I have not been seeing other blogs!
Well, Tumblr isn't really a blog.
We don't have the same relationship!
You are special to me! Please don't leave!
You want me to do what in bed?
Okay, fine.

And things are back to normal. I've had so much homework! It's been a horrible past couple of days.

LOLJK.

I may be running on little sleep and migraines but I'm so happy!

Owl City's new record came out today. All Things Bright and Beautiful. I pre-ordered it in like March. I've been waiting a while. It is beyond incredible though.

I was listening to it until 3am. And loving every second of it. I can't remember being this happy. To put in prospective, I could think of this album and muster up an amazing patronus. Which would probably be an owl. Hehehe.

That daily Adam really failed, didn't it? Oh well. Ahaha

It's like I'm riding some weird Owl City high. I feel good. Too good, it scares me. I felt it at school today. Everything just went better then expected. I had to present something, and it just happened. Like it did in my head. I didn't fail like I did in the presentation I did yesterday.

I hope this lasts.

Daily Adam Day 5

I have this new thing where I draw on my thigh with pen. The joys of shorts. I don't know why. It just happens.

The sweater.

I love how Adam owns about 6 shirts and one pair of shoes. Two including the cowboy boots.

"If I can create something positive and something creative and something that fills my creative drive and if that same end result will inspire some kid somewhere and make them feel as though they can be a better person, or however the music chooses to speak to them. It, to me, feels like my job is done."
-Adam Young

 Early Birdie - Owl City

Another of my all-time favourites :) This one has a wonderful video. The sweater from above seems to come up a bit..

Daily Adam Day 3

Hey party people.
Sitting in my room singing, "No you can't always get what you want!" I feel like at night I am like 120% better at singing. I don't know what it is. Like last night at 2am I was playing Wonderwall on guitar and singing and I thought it sounded amazing and I go and play it today and I was like, meh.
It is such a wonderful song though. I was singing it all day, then I went to the mall and it was playing! I thought it was a really weird coincidence.

Love.
This picture. It's just one of those pictures that make you smile.

You've got mountains of your own, I’ll bet on it. Take heart. Be encouraged. Remain steadfast. Hang on for dear life. You've got a better grip than you realize.
-Adam Young

I love this quote because it applies to everyone. We all have those moment where we are so overwhelmed that we just want to scream. But once you take a look at your life, things aren't always as bad as they seem.

This is my all time favourite Owl City song. It gets to me every time.

Daily Adam Day 2

Today was a pretty crappy day. But whatever. Moving on.

You know what never fails to cheer me up?

This guy.
I really enjoy this picture. Heart-hands ftw :)

"A lot of people think I’m weird and totally uncool because I’m not always talking. It makes me laugh sometimes. enjoy listening a lot more then yakking."
-Adam Young

This quote seems to be a lot like myself. Today, after handing back a test, my teacher said to me, "I wish you would talk; you're hilarious," after I added a joke answer because I had no idea what the real answer was. Little does she know that I truly am hilarious and I embrace it everyday. Obviously not in that class.
This kind of upset me though. The phrase, "Bitch, you don't know my life," came into my head. But I was just angry with myself. Maybe I should send her the link to this blog.

To The Sky - Owl City
I suggest that you watch the video as you listen to the song. They are both wonderful. This movie is also wonderful, you should watch it sometime. Good day.

Daily Adam

You guys know how much I love countdowns! Owl City's new album comes out on June 14th. All Things Bright and Beautiful is Adam Young's new baby. So, for the next two weeks I will be posting a little something about Adam Young right here. More specifically, a picture, quote and song!

Cannot contain self.

Meet Adam Young.
I love this picture. I love his sweater. I love his face.
What I feel for Adam Young... we are not going to get into it. I'm going to try and keep this as clean and innocent as possible. This is my favourite picture ever. Of anything.

"The future is bright, and by all means, it’s beautiful. There’s really no telling what tomorrow may bring."
- Adam Young

I'll Meet You There - Owl City
This song holds special meaning to me. I can proudly say that this is the first Owl City song that I ever heard. And of course the lyrics are pure and beautiful. That is something I've come to respect from everything Adam Young.

It's nice to listen to his music. It feels like it cleanses your ears from all the sex and drugs you hear in pretty much every song.

Everything is Owl City and nothing hurts.

Galaxies

I shot this last week and I don't think I've picked up an instrument since. That's kind of sad. I've been busy though! Hell, who are we kidding, I watched season one of Lost. That is some freaky shit right there. I told myself that I would not watch any Lost today, and I haven't. When I got home I spent a while reading a hundred pages of Bossypants in one sitting. It was awesome.

It's been a weird day. Just different. I had to catch up on all the work I missed on Monday and Tuesday. Turns out it's quite a bit. You're probably like, why didn't you do that yesterday? Well, my chemistry and soc teachers were both substitutes and my history class was cancelled. And I went to English on Tuesday, it was a horrible experience, but at least I don't have to catch up on anything. Except a fucking essay due Tuesday. EVERYTHING IS DUE TUESDAY. Thanks 'long weekend'.

My history class, or ancient civilizations to get fancy, is last period. We have DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) every Thursday in interchangeable periods. It was last period today. So, at the beginning of class we go to the library to work on some project he handed out. "What project?" says Stephanie. So, I ask my teacher and he's all, chill I'll get it for you after. So I chill with my home-girl.

DEAR is for half the period, so when Teacher says, "Kay guys, get to work." I go over to him and he's all like, "One sec, you're impatient today, laugh laugh." And I go, "Yeah, laugh laugh." I did notice he has very cool looking eyes. Weird? Probably.

So, when he gets the sheets printed off he calls me over. I, of course, have to go across the library to get the sheets at the printer. So, I get them and go over to talk to him about what the hell we are even doing. So Teacher says, "Blah blah portfolio, something about mini projects." I'm not excited about this. "Wait, what am I supposed to do now?" I ask. "Well, the class is on the second part." He tells me. "What do I do for the first part?" I still don't understand the project as I'm writing this. "Just ask your pals over there for it, I'm not going to make you do it. It's not like you were out smoking crack." That's my teacher. Because I'm a sarcastic, hilarious person, I answer, "Well..." We both laugh.

Thinking about it now, that probably was weird, or at least very surprising to him. At school, my peers do not perceive me as a hilarious person. I don't do well with social interaction. But, I think I can check that conservation off as successful. Maybe he will tell my other teachers that I'm a closet funny.

Oh yeah, the cover. Funny story about this one. It took forever to take. The best take I had, the camera was pointed at my crotch. Good times. This one I think is rushed, but whatever. It's a good song, so listen to Adam's voice.

Well, this has been long, but fun. That's what she said. I really have to pee. I drink too much iced-tea. Tomorrow it will be gone though, sadface.

Awkward, but casual goodbye.
